Ideas for quick & healthy meals that are good for breastfeeding mommies?

Category: quick meal ideas

I feel like I have run out of things to cook, because everything I usually make either takes too much time or gives my 3 week old son gas. I need some ideas for meals that are quick & healthy and don’t cause gas in my breastfed baby … any suggestions?

ah, my favorite cookbook is “Cheap, Fast, Good” and my second fav is “Desperation Dinners”. Bonus, they come with shopping lists written out in the back.

These will get decent healthy dinners on the table in under 30 minutes, and they TASTE good.

After six weeks, most gassy issues go away. By two months, it’s always been a nonissue with my kids.

Small babies are just normally given to farting, and to making a fuss when they poop. It doesn’t mean anything’s wrong.

The stuff about Mum eating gassy foods making baby gassy is a wives’ tale.

But. If you do make something that takes a bit of time, make a massive quantity and stock your freezer. Right now I’m eating a bowl of homemade cheese and veg enchiladas with rice and beans — straight from the freezer and microwave; still quite tasty.

Apart from freezing stuff, cheese and veg sandwiches are good, cheap, tasty, and easy to make. (Make two at a time, and you have a snack for later.)

Pasta + store-bought alfredo sauce + bag of good frozen veg = quick pasta primavera…

I’ve been breastfeeding six months, and baby carrots (or celery) with hummus is good (I can even eat while nursing). Bananas, grapes, granola bars and cheese and crackers are great snacks. I know every child is different, but these didn’t seem to bother my son too much. But the other person who said babies just get gas is absolutely right.
