Filo & Peri ‘ANTHEM’ ft. Eric Lumiere (Official Videoclip)

Category: quick meal ideas

Filo and Peri are two of the hottest up and coming producer and dj talents in the biz. ‘Anthem’, the new single by Filo & Milo is a wonderful combination of smashing beats and very emotional lyrics and melody.

This is an anthem for the girl that got away
This is an anthem for the world of yesterday
This is an anthem for the rebel of my youth
This is an anthem for the risk of loving you…

Enjoy the video, and this interview by EventVibe with the talented duo.

Eventvibe founder, Tim Ortiz, was able to spend time with Dominic Filopei (Filo) & Bo Pericic (Peri) during a recent tour to promote their latest CD, “Crowd Control.”

Tim: Where are you both from in New York?
Filo: I was born and raised in the Bronx.
Peri: I’m from Westchester, NY and our studio is in the Bronx.

Tim: How long have you been in the business?
Filo: I’ve been involved with music since I was 5 years old, but I’ve really only been in the business about four years.
Peri: We’ve been in the business for almost 4 years now, but I have been working on music for as long as I can remember.

Tim: How did you get in the business?
Filo: We officially got in the business when Armin Van Buuren signed our first record in 2003.
Peri: Yeah - we got the call on July 17th, 2003 and Armin wanted to sign our record ‘Elevation’! It’s an easy date to remember because it happened to be on my 18th birthday - what a great present!

Tim: Bo, has your age ever gotten in the way of your goals as a producer/dj?
Filo: Not really. It’s a little harder to have people take you seriously when you’re young, but I don’t mind earning respect. I would say that being a producer/dj has made me grow up quicker because of all the things we’ve had to deal with in this business.

Tim: Dom, a couple of your tracks have been picked up by Paul Van Dyk’s label, Vandit. Tell us about this please.
Peri: We’ve been very fortunate to continuously have our work recognized by the top names in the scene. Last year Paul Van Dyk picked up a tune we made with California based rock band Fisher called ‘Ordinary Moment’. The record was really successful for Vandit and they asked us for more. Our latest production ‘Anthem’ is a collaboration with New York based rock singer and good friend Eric Lumiere. It’s catching a lot of buzz and people are already singing it at all our shows - we’re really excited about that! Just last week at the Winter Music conference Paul van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, and Ferry Corsten all dropped it.

Tim: When you are doing studio work, please explain the creative process and who tends to get involved more, in what areas.
Filo: We are involved in all the areas equally. The case with many duos is that one acts mainly as the producer while the other is more of a DJ. In our case everything is split equally and it really helps us move forward quicker. Sometimes one of us will put in more work on a certain track but at the end, everything we do is 50/50. The creative process is pretty spontaneous and since we have two systems at our studio, we bang out ideas pretty quickly. It’s almost like an assembly line sometimes - while one of us is finishing the new track, the other is coming up with ideas for the next!

Tim: Where does your musical influence and inspiration come from?
Filo: My inspiration comes from the rock legends and their ability to be at the front of the masses and have such a musical and cultural influence. As a DJ, I’m starting do the same thing and I have not had a more gratifying experience than that.
Peri: My dad has always been into electronic music and I grew up listening to electronic music pioneers such as Jean Michelle Jarre, Kraftwerk, etc. That really made an impact on me! I have an extremely close family and my parents are a continuous source of inspiration. The opportunities I’ve been presented throughout my entire life is a direct result of their hard work, and that inspires me to work hard every day. It’s hard not to be inspired when such an amazing family, girlfriend, and music partner/best friend (Domenick) surrounds me.

Tim: What should we expect from Filo and Peri in the next year?
Filo: You can expect Filo and Peri in a city near you!
Peri: An artist album later this year and some exciting gigs! We’re also starting to work with Paul Van Dyk and Vandit much more closely.

Are you crazy? Armin produced a lot as well, and still does. Not all of his tracks are known to be his because he uses a lot of pseudonyms.

I don’t really like them. Sorry, that’s just the way that goes.

By the way, if you think you can butter up your girlfriend after a fight or argument with three minutes of dance music then I’m guessing you have a whole range of other issues with your girlfriend that need to be addressed first.
