I am looking for healthy, quick and inexpensive meals I can send with my husband to work? Any ideas?
Also would be great if they are tasty!
This may not help, but my husband eats left overs….. very tasty, very quick, and super inexpensive. Chicken wraps are very easy, beef stew with corn bread, bean burritos, chicken/pesto pasta. If you get the book, "saving dinner", for idiots like me that don't know how to cook. You can learn how to follow recipes and send left overs. It made a big difference for us. The book includes a shopping list for each week's dinners. I was the queen of spaghetti for a long time until I found this book. Good luck.
If this doesn't work for you, try getting a book that deals with making your kid's lunch fun. I have a 1st grader and I know there are "cookbooks" that don't involve much cooking, for making quick healthy lunches for kids, just make the portions bigger. Good luck!!!

2 commentsquick and easy meals please?
I only have a microwave and two hotplates, so no recipes which require an oven please?
I've been living on ready-meals, soup (minute soup, canned soup and home-made, it's one of the few things I can cook) and potnoodles (think Aiki).
I don't like cooking so something that can just be thrown together would be ideal - I'm getting bored with the ready-meals, to be honest!
oh, forgot to say, the microwave and hotplates are really all I have, no frying pan to make chips!
macaroni cheese, easy 2 make, put macaroni in boiling hot water, cook until soft, drain, add milk & cheese, put into dish, pop into microwave, 4 mins or until cheese has melted, loverley. make a shepherds pie, cook mince, boil & mash spuds, into microwave heat & enjoy. Hope this helps.
Goo Luck!!
The Pagan Christ - 4 of 4 - Recovering the Lost Light
The core of Christianity—the worship of a miracle working, walking, talking godman who brings salvation—was also the core of other ancient religions that began at least a thousand years before Jesus.
Heaven, hell, prophecy, daemon possession, sacrifice, initiation by baptism, communion with God through a holy meal, the Holy Spirit, monotheism, immortality of the soul, and many other “Christian” ideas all belonged to earlier, older Pagan faiths. They were simply part of ancient Mediterranean culture. Along with miracle working sons of God, born of a mortal woman, they were common elements of pre-Christian Pagan religion. Mithras had ‘em. So did Dionysus, Attis, Osiris, and Orpheus. And more.
And they had them generations—centuries— before Jesus was a twinkle in Saint Paul’s eye.
Ancient cultures around the Mediterranean shared standard ideas about Gods and their powers and place in the universe - and Christianity simply adopted those ideas and applied them to Jesus. Ancient people knew godmen did miracles. The first Christians thought Jesus was a godman, so they told stories about Jesus doing miracles. They even had Him doing the same miracles as the other godmen.

Vegetarian Chili
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large onion, chopped
4 large cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 medium-size sweet green pepper, cored, seeded and diced
1 medium-size sweet red pepper, cored, seeded and diced
1 medium-size zucchini, diced
1 medium-size yellow squash, diced
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
1 can (14.5 ounces) stewed tomatoes
1 can (11 ounces) corn kernels, drained
1 can (15.5 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
1/4 teaspoon salt
Accompaniments, optional: cooked rice, sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese
Heat oil in 4-quart pot over medium heat. Add onion, garlic and chili powder; saute for 5 minutes. Add green and red peppers; saute 5 minutes. Add zucchini, squash, oregano and ground red pepper; saute for 5 minutes. Add tomatoes; cook 10 minutes. Stir in corn, black beans and salt; cook for 5 minutes.
Serve with the accompaniments, if desired.
Note: Chili is always better with the extra punch of a tasty garnish, from scallions to sour cream. Try this easy-on-you guacamole:
3 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
3 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
3 tablespoons fresh-squeezed lime juice
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro leaves
1 jalepeno, seeded and minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
Mash avocado flesh in a bowl. Stir in red onion, lime juice, cilantro, jalapeno, salt, and hot-pepper sauce. Refrigerate. Spoon a dollop on each chili serving.
